Paradise Computer Club  

2015 - 2016 Season 


Our Season runs from October 1st through September 30th.

 Meetings are scheduled from November 2015

 to April 2016. 

The club is open to all residents of the Park.  We welcome new users and experienced users.  Our focus includes tablets, smart phones and other technology as well as computer programs.  We have speakers from outside the Park as well as resident speakers.

Wednesday March 15, will be the last SIG Meeting for the season except for Genealogy which will continue on an informal basis.

Note:  At the January Business Meeting Jan. 16th, 2016 the membership voted to reduce the Saturday meetings to two Saturday meetings per month, on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

Your Club needs YOUR HELP

Nominations are needed for election of PRESIDENT etc.

By-Laws Article 5; Section 1:  The Elections of Officers for the following year shall be held at the annual Business Meeting in March, and the newly elected officers will assume their duties beginning April 1.

Nominations have been received for the officer positions EXCEPT President, , Programs Chair, SIG Chair.

The first meeting of our Computer Club was held on February 10, 1990.

If these positions cannot be filled, 2016 may hold the last meeting of our Club.

Note:  Many members filled out the survey and listed the types of programs they would like the Club to address.  There were many positive responses.  Most of these could be accommodated with SIG groups,

Note:  SIG change:  The SIG time slot for Basic Computing will now become Photos  and will cover all aspects of photo managing.

 Note:  The Annual Brunch that has been held in February will not be held this year.

General Meetings held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month

 are for Members only but a visitor can come to one meeting without paying dues.

Dues will be accepted at the Saturday meetings. 

Check the bulletin board across from the library for more of the latest information on meetings, classes, and tech articles.  It also allows club members to advertise computer related items for sale.  

The Paradise Computer Club is a member of the APCUG,  a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting and supporting computer and software user groups worldwide. 

Current members of the Paradise Computer Club are all entitled to take advantage of their programs.  This is part of your dues as the club member.

Computer Classes are being offered at the Sunrise Mt. Library on W. Lake Pleasant Pkwy...click here for subjects & dates

The classes are repeated with the first class being offered on December 1st. 

You have to be a member of the library. Membership is free all you need to do is bring a piece of mail or document with your name and your park address on it.


At the  Business Meeting held March 14, 2015, 

 Nominations Chair, Carolyn Young, presented the slate of Nominations who were standing for election of Officers.  As there were no further nominations from the floor, there was a motion to elect the slate of Nominations as presented.  The motion passed unanimously.
The newly elected officers will assume their duties beginning April 1,2015.

Note: At the end of the January notices will only be sent to the current members of the Computer Club. Become a current member at the Saturday morning meeting. The membership is $15.00 per household.

New Acquisition:   In 2014, the club purchased a new Windows computer.

It is the latest and greatest, featuring a touch screen and Win. 8.1;

also purchased a new Apple computer featuring the latest operating system, "Yosemite"

The Club has a new digital converter for slides & negatives which is available on loan to members! 

If you have some slides you would like to scan bring them along.

Members: do you need to print a Airline Boarding Pass but have no printer?
The following members have graciously offered to let you use their printers: Hal Shockey; Frank Stratton
  Do you have computers in working order that you want to dispose of?
Take them to Lowell Ergen.
He refurbishes and donates them to underprivileged children who would not otherwise have a computer

Wireless Internet in the computer room

Wireless internet is available in and around the building housing the computer room, library, and card rooms. It also supports the swimming pool area and the multi-purpose room.
This is a significant convenience for all computer club members and park residents!
